Nathan F. Twining – the American four-star general who served as the 3rd Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the 3rd Chief of Staff of the Air Force – was born on this day – October 11, 1897 – in Monroe, Wisconsin.
He was a graduate of the United States Military Academy, the Command and General Staff College, and the United States Army War College.
