General Joseph Dunford was born

Joseph Dunford – the American four-star general who served as the 19th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the 36th Commandant of the Marine Corps – was born on this day – December 8, 1955 – in Boston, Massachusetts.

He is a graduate of Saint Michael’s College, Georgetown University, and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.

General Dunford is a senior fellow at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard University.
