Thomas Moorer – the American four-star admiral who served as the 7th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the 18th Chief of Staff of the Navy – was born on this day – February 9, 1912 – in Mount Willing, Alabama.
He was a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and the Naval War College.
