KROC went on the air
on this day in 1962
KROQ – alternative rock format radio station serving the Los Angeles area – first signed on to the air as KPPC-FM 106.7 on this day – April 23, 1962.
The station is perhaps best known for showcasing Jimmy Kimmel in the role of “Jimmy the Sports Guy” on the KROQ morning show between 1994 and 1999.
